Coral Recommendations

At JK Fish, we strive to provide you with healthy and high-quality livestock. Each specimen is carefully inspected and quarantined to ensure there are no pests or nuisance algae. However, due to the high volume of livestock we handle, there may be rare instances where something is overlooked. To maintain the health and pest-free status of your aquarium, we strongly recommend dipping all corals and quarantining all livestock before introducing them to your destination aquarium. For detailed information on dipping and quarantine methods, please refer to the following:

Fish Quarantine Regimen:

Acropora and SPS Corals: Perform a potassium chloride (KCl) dip by mixing 3 tablespoons of KCl per gallon of aquarium water. Dip the corals for 3 to 5 minutes.

LPS and Soft Corals: Use Coral RX for dipping, following the instructions provided on the product label.

SPS and Acropora - High Flow High Light - 250 - 500 par
LPS - Medium Flow and Medium Light - 150 - 250 par
Soft Coral - low flow low light - 100 - 200 par

We would recommend using RODI on any systems you are using for coral. Acropora will benefit from this the most.

Recommended levels:

Calcium – 420, Alkalinity – 8, Magnesium 1360, Nitrates – 20, Phosphate – .03

For Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium We are  using BRS two part bulk mixing with RODI water. Really any 2 part will work well. B-ionic contains trace elements in some of their mixes so this also benefits corals. We use our dosers to run roughly 10 times a day to add a little bit of each solution to keep the levels from fluctuating throughout the day.

For trace element dosing we would recommend using the Tropic Marin A and K supplements and just follow the directions on the bottle. You can put this on a doser.

We use Red Sea AB+ amino acids to feed corals. We dose this at night
We also use Benepets which is similar to reef roids. Both of these in combination will really help with corals healing, growing, and coloring up.

If you have any heavy metals in the water from your well or city water there are things you can put in place to mitigate these.

We would keep fish in your coral systems as well. Tangs, clean-up crews, wrasses. This will help with any pests and algae.

We use Kalkwasser in our ATO to supplement PH. This will also have a small effect on boosting calcium and alkalinity.
