Collection: Triggerfish

Triggerfish are bold, intelligent marine fish belonging to the family Balistidae, known for their strong jaws, durable bodies, and striking patterns. They are named for the unique locking mechanism in their first dorsal spine, which can be "triggered" to lock upright for defense or to wedge into crevices.

Popular species such as the Pinktail Triggerfish and Clown Triggerfish are admired for their vibrant colors and curious personalities. However, many triggerfish are territorial and aggressive, especially toward smaller or slower tank mates, making them better suited for large, predator or fish-only marine systems. They require spacious tanks, stable water quality, and a varied diet that includes meaty foods and hard-shelled invertebrates to support their powerful teeth. With proper care, triggerfish are engaging and interactive additions to advanced marine aquariums.
