Soft Corals

Soft corals encompass a wide range of species, including zoanthids, clove polyps, xenia, and mushrooms. They are highly sought after for their diverse shapes, vibrant colors, and unique growth patterns. For example, mushroom corals, such as Discosomas, Yumas, Ricordeas, and Rhodactis, come in an incredible array of colors, making them a captivating addition to any reef tank. Similarly, zoanthids offer an extensive variety of color combinations and can quickly grow into lush "gardens" of polyps.  

Unlike LPS and SPS corals, soft corals do not form a calcium carbonate skeleton, making them significantly less demanding and more resilient to damage. This durability, combined with their ease of care, makes soft corals the most beginner-friendly choice for starting a reef tank.
