Collection: Basslets
Basslets, commonly referred to as Pseudochromis, are small, vividly colored marine fish classified within the family Pseudochromidae.
They are native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Indo-Pacific, where they predominantly inhabit coral reefs and rocky substrates. Renowned for their brilliant hues—ranging from deep purples and blues to vibrant oranges and yellows—basslets exhibit pronounced territoriality and assertive behavior despite their diminutive size. These carnivorous fish primarily prey upon small crustaceans and zooplankton. While many species coexist peacefully with larger marine organisms, they often display aggression toward similarly sized or closely related fish. Due to their resilience, striking coloration, and modest spatial requirements, basslets are highly sought after in the marine aquarium trade.
